‘It’s called fashion marketing, look it up’

Having cultivated deep industry roots, Urban Industry is an online retailer stocking premium clothing from over 90 worldwide streetwear and outdoor fashion labels. Deceptively, this 20-year-old company only has a small but talented team behind the scenes with the Founder still charged with all the marketing activity, which is where we come in…

Confident with the brand’s position in the industry and looking to embrace new ideas and release himself from some of the day-to-day activity, the Founder engaged clockworkTalent, under the guidance of his business coach Marco. Amongst a number of other initiatives, Marco introduced the idea of using a specialist recruiter to ensure the best marketing talent was found and successfully onboarded into the business.

Here’s what Marco had to say about working with us: “Finding the right talent for ones business is one of the most important drivers of success. clockworkTalent have a great reputation in the digital space and have supported my clients with successful placements for key members of their teams this year.”

I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Marco. He’s actually recommended several companies to clockworkTalent where we’ve successfully helped them recruit eCommerce and marketing talent into their teams. I guess we’re a little unusual in how closely we support our employers in making the right decisions as well as not forgetting to handhold the job seekers who are trying to find the ‘right’ job for themselves.

Urban Industry HQ in Eastbourne

This recruitment project was personally interesting as Urban Industry’s warehouse and office are about 15 minutes from my childhood home in Sussex. Discussing the role with Dan, we refined the job description and even changed the job title when we realised it wasn’t attracting quite the right type of applicants. We both knew the job title wasn’t really important for the business but it would be to the individual. We eventually chose the title of ‘Creative Strategist’ and immediately received some really high-quality applicants.

The interview process narrowed the shortlist and we eventually hired the amazing Claire into the role. Here’s what Claire said about our part in her landing her new job:

….I would highly recommend clockworkTalent, as Natasha has been fantastic in putting me forward for a position I applied for. From my initial application to securing the role, Natasha’s attention to detail, communication and advice has been superb and I am very appreciative of her support throughout this process.”

Claire’s new boss and Founder of Urban Industry, Dan told us that it was his “first time using a recruitment agency in many, many years and it turned out to be fun which I wasn’t expecting!  Natasha at clockworkTalent makes life very easy and really delves deeply into the role you need to recruit for, taking her time to understand every nuance that you may or may not have thought about yourself. Natasha definitely helped focus down the role and in turn, we gained a greater understanding of the type of recruit we needed. The process was very smooth and it looks like we’ve filled our position and recruited well! Thank you, clockworkTalent!”

It’s still early days in Claire’s career at Urban Industry but the feedback I’ve been getting is that she’s exceptional! Not only is she already bringing new ideas and initiatives but she’s really impacting the business with her passion. I’m looking forward to watching Claire’s career growth and seeing the evidence of her work in their social media channels.
